GFPS Best Paper Award at the 2022 IEEE Global Fluid Power Society PhD Symposium

We are happy to share that the twentieth and twenty-first GFPS best paper awards were awarded during the 2022 IEEE Global Fluid Power Society PhD Symposium in Naples, Italy. The best paper awards at GFPS PhD Symposiums are special as the receipients also receive the Backé Medal, dedicated to Prof. Wolfgang Backé. 

The recipients of the GFPS best paper award are:

  • Yannick Duensing, Amos Merkel, and Katharina Schmitz from RWTH Aachen University, Institute for Fluid Power and Systems, with the paper "Degradation Identifaction of an EHA Piston Pump by Analysis of Load-Holding States";
  • Xin Tian*, Xiaofan Guo*, Patrick Stump*, Giovanni Dessy*, Andrea Vacca*, Stefano Fiorati**, and Francesco Pintore** from (*) Purdue University and (**) CNH Industrial S.p.A, with the paper "New Hydraulic Control Technologies for Improving the Energy Efficiency of the Hydraulic System of Agricultural Tractors and Their Implements".

We are also happy to announce other two best paper awards:

  • Best Paper Award sponsored by Fluids MDPI to Roman Ivantysyn, Svenja Horn, and Jürgen Weber from the TU Dresden, with the paper "Design of a Lead-Free Slipper Bearing for Low Speed Axial Piston Pump Applications";
  • Best Paper Award sponsored by the local organizers to David Fassbender*, Christine Brach**, and Tatiana Minav* from (*) Tampere University and (**) Bosch Rexroth AG, with the paper "Energy-Efficiency Comparison of Different Implement Power-Train Concepts to Each Other and Between Different Heavy-Duty Mobile Machines".

GFPS Best Paper Award at the 2022 Bath/ASME FPMC

We are happy to share that the nineteenth GFPS best paper award was awarded during the 2022 BATH/ASME Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control in Bath, U.K. 

The recipients of the GFPS best paper award are Zubin Mistry*, Andrea Vacca*, Sujan Dhar**, and Manuel Rigosi**from Purdue University (*), Simerics, Inc. (**) and Casappa, S.p.A. (***) with the paper "Modeling Fluid Inertia Effects in External Gear Machines Through Lumped Parameter Approach​".

GFPS Best Paper Award at the 13th IFK

We are happy to share that the eighteenth GFPS best paper award was awarded during the 13th International Fluid Power Conference (IFK) in Aarchen, Germany. 

The recipients of the GFPS best paper award are Niklas Bauer*, Matthias Baumann**, Simon Feldmeth**, Frank Bauer** and Katharina Schmitz* from the RWTH Aachen University (*) and University of Stuttgart (**), Germany with the paper "EHL Simulation of Transient Friction of Translational Seals in Pneumatic Spool Valves under Consideration of 3D Surface Topography Measurement Data".

We are pleased to announce that the seventeeth GFPS best paper award was awarded during the ASME/Bath FPMC 2021

ME Faculty Opening at University of Minnesota

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities is receiving applications to a full-time tenure-track position beginning fall 2022 in the areas of controls or manufacturing.

Candidates with an interest in the application domains of transportation systems, robotics, medical devices, fluid power, instrumentation design, or tribology are particularly encouraged. The faculty candidate will complement current expertise in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and will grow strategic synergistic collaborations within the department and the University. They primarily seek candidates at the assistant professor level; however, senior tenured appointments are possible for exceptionally qualified candidates.

GFPS Best Paper Award at SICFP'21

We are pleased to announce that the fifteenth GFPS best paper award was awarded during the 17th Scandinavian International Conference on Fluid Power.  

The recipients of the GFPS best paper award are L. Viktor Larsson , Robert Lejonberg, and Liselott Ericson from  the Division of Fluid and Mechatronic Systems (Flumes) at Linköping University in Sweden with the paper "Control Optimisation of a Pump-Controlled Hydraulic System using Digital Displacement Pumps". Congratulations!

GFPS Best Paper Award at ICFP2021

We are pleased to announce that the fourteenth GFPS best paper award was awarded during the 10th International Conference on Fluid Power Transmission and Control (ICFP 2021).  

The recipients of the GFPS best paper award are Philip Amos Merkel, Hubertus Murrenhoff , Olivier Reinertz  and Katharina Schmitz with the paper "Hydro Mechanical Closed Loop Braking Torque Control Experimental Investigation and Influence Analysis"

IFK Extends Abstract Submission Deadline

The Institute for Fluid Power Drives and Systems at RWTH Aachen University announces that abstracts for the 13th International Conference on Fluid Power can now be submitted until May 14th 2021. The IFK, one of the world’s largest scientific conferences on fluid power, unites scientists with industry in an international forum to exchange knowledge in the area of hydraulic and pneumatic drives and control systems. The conference will be held in Aachen, Germany in March 21-23 2022.
